NAFI CT Executive Director Lynn Bishop and her leadership team also guide operations in Rhode Island and New York, and staff from across the cluster participated in the survey that led to the Top Workplaces honor for NAFI CT.
The list of winners was announced Sept. 25 and marks the seventh consecutive year of Top Workplaces honors from either Hearst, The Hartford Courant, or both.
Hearst also honored NAFI CT in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021. The Courant named NAFI CT to its Top Workplaces list for five consecutive years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The anonymous survey measures 15 culture drivers critical to the success of any organization, including alignment, execution, and connection.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”

Among the employee feedback submitted were these comments:
I think the culture of NAFI is great. They care about their employees and want us all to succeed. …
Feedback is always requested and encouraged and validated. Leadership responds in a caring fashion to concerns and is not defensive in any way.
It feels good to get positive feedback even when it’s just a thank you or nice job, etc. Some supervisors even hand out gift cards to acknowledge people’s hard work and effort.
I am able to make a difference in others’ lives. I have the support of my supervisor and director. I am encouraged to prioritize my family and create a positive work/life balance.
It’s a one stop shop: Wonderful teammates, colleagues, the flexibility, family sense, encouragement of self-care and personal family highlights. The ability and platform to grow and develop in my supervisorial role. The main element I would say, is the support that I have received all throughout the years of being a part of the NAFI family. I am grateful to be a part of the NAFI CT.
“Being named to the Connecticut Top Workplaces list for seven consecutive years is an honor and a testament to the dedication, talent, and caring of our leadership team and supervisors,” said Lynn Bishop, Executive Director of NAFI CT, as well as NAFI operations in Rhode Island and New York. “That said, our staff deserves the greatest gratitude. Your enthusiasm, passion, and devotion to the mission of empowering individuals and strengthening families is truly inspiring.”
“It’s a pretty simple management equation we have at NAFI CT,” added Jessica Clow, Director of Training & Development. “Our staff members exceed expectations on a daily basis with the experience, professionalism, caring and sensitivity they bring to helping individuals and families who are most often facing difficult situations. So we strive to go above-and-beyond for them across the spectrum, from training and support to listening and respect, nurturing the sense that we are all part of the NAFI family, and most importantly, our shared affirmation for the foundational importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all. Actually, ‘management equation’ isn’t the right term. That’s all simply part of our workplace DNA here.”
